Aspirant asks Siaya youth to use social media responsibly

Youths in Siaya County have been asked to use the social media platforms responsibly to avoid any incitement that may create divisions before, during and after 2017 General Election.

Ugunja politician Otieno Aluru says that social media cannot be ignored because it is a good tool for communication, but warned that it must be used responsibly.

He lamented that some youths have developed a tendency of spreading hate and unnecessary rumour through the social media and that this should not be condoned.

Aluru was addressing ODM delegates who endorsed his candidature at Savannah  Hotel in Ugunja town.

He, at the same time, pleaded with the political leaders from the region to maintain peace especially now that the election campaigns have virtually begun.

Aluru stated that all political aspirants eying various elective posts must ensure they unite people and sell their ideologies peacefully without causing divisions amongst voters.

The politician who has declared interest in the Ugunja parliamentary seat called on other aspirants to avoid political hooliganism, noting  those who will be elected will still be the sons and daughters of Ugunja.

The parliamentary hopeful who is an advocate by profession, also allayed fears that some of them would be denied ODM party ticket ahead of the 2017 General Election.

He argued that those are mere propaganda being spread by opponents out to disillusion voters.

Aluru said he will vie for the seat on an ODM ticket and expressed optimism that he will win with a landslide to become the next MP for Ugunja Constituency.
