Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader Alfred Mutua has hinted at his coalition partners who will help him propel his 2022 ambition to ascend to power after President Uhuru Kenyatta leaves office.

Mutua was speaking at the launch of the model community health program in Isiolo on Thursday where he reaffirmed his 2022 race claiming that he was in a serious discussion with a section of leaders

I am personally in serious discussions with critical leaders for a strong partnership come 2022 elections. Our coalition of like-minded and motivated leaders will be one whose interest is Kenyans first.I have indicated and do so again that in 2022, I will vie to become the 5th President of Kenya. There is nothing wrong with that. But I am not consumed by a near rabid and desperate campaign and politicization that is slowing down our economic growth,“he argued.

Mutua went on to criticize corrupt leaders and those taking early campaigns taking early campaigns and where he opined that Kenya needs a leader who is committed to ensuring that taxpayers benefit from the fruits of devolution.

“I urge my colleagues who also have ambitions to declare as they have but to first concentrate on developing the country and not spend their energies in endless campaigns and stealing of government resources that some are engaged in”.

Mutua’s presidential bid has for a while caused a fallout in the Ukambani politics  with leaders supporting Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

The two leaders have been reading from different scripts over the running of Machakos county, a situation that was amplified during the August 2017 poll.

The row was escalated in the wake of former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti’s claim to the governor seat and a case which is pending at the Apex court.
